Reddit user reports inaccessible ChatGPT Sites after account migration
A Reddit user reports that migrating a ChatGPT account from Personal to Business left previously published ChatGPT Sites live but attached to an inaccessible workspace. The user says they could no longer manage or delete the sites or reconnect their custom domains to the Business workspace. They say OpenAI Support could not resolve the issue after 10 days of waiting and repeated tickets. The user recommends disconnecting custom domains and removing published sites before migrating.
The account highlights a potential management and domain-recovery problem for users migrating accounts while operating published ChatGPT Sites. It remains a single user's unverified report; the supplied report does not establish that the issue affects every Personal-to-Business migration.
TLDR: Disconnect your custom domains before migrating. They are not deleted.
I recently decided to give ChatGPT Sites a try to see how capable it was and how quickly I could get a website up and running for essentially free (assuming you don't count my Codex subscription).
The idea was simple: build and host a website, make rapid iterations, and avoid writing code, managing a Git repository, or dealing with deployment pipelines.
Initially, the experience was great.
The site came together quickly, changes were surprisingly accurate, and I had a functional website up and running in very little time. I connected my custom domain, published the site, and called it a day.
A few weeks later, I decided to upgrade my ChatGPT account from Personal to Business.
