Gurman: Apple's HomeView sat in warehouses for nearly a year awaiting Siri
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports that Apple's newly released HomeView smart-home hub finished development long ago, with boxed units sitting in warehouses for the better part of a year while Apple waited for a usable, revamped Siri. The wait means the $299 device ships with hardware that now looks dated, including an A18 processor, 8GB of memory and thick screen bezels, after a launch originally targeted for as early as late 2024 slipped repeatedly until last week. Gurman also says Apple is developing a higher-end HomeView with a robotic arm that turns the display toward whoever is speaking.
The report ties HomeView's delays directly to Apple's struggle to ship a usable AI-powered Siri, showing how AI software readiness can gate a hardware launch.
