Musk says Grok Bot will use rival models, including Claude Opus 5.5, Midjourney and Suno
Elon Musk said on X that SpaceX's AI unit will from now on use the "best back-end model for any given task," naming Claude Opus 5.5, Midjourney, Suno and other leading APIs. 9to5Mac reports Grok Bot can already use Claude Opus 5.5, though Musk did not say which tasks map to which outside model. Grok Bot is the AI agent app from SpaceXAI launched in August, with its own cloud computer and parallel task handling; its documentation says model selection is managed by the platform, with usage analytics showing which model ran and billing by model.
A high-profile agent app routing work to rival models shows multi-model orchestration becoming normal for consumer AI assistants.
