Baseten Router enters public preview for coding-task model selection
Baseten announced Baseten Router, a public-preview router within Baseten Grid that selects an open-weight or closed-weight model for each coding task based on expected performance and cost. In Baseten’s own benchmarks, it came within 0.8 percentage points of Opus 5.5’s pass rate at 72% lower cost and was the only tested router to outperform random routing significantly.
Baseten Router gives Baseten Grid users a way to route coding work between different models according to cost and expected performance instead of using one model for every task.
