Unannounced Gemini SIM Manager connector spotted in APK teardown
Android Authority found a SIM Manager connector for Gemini on a Pixel 9 running the Android 17 QPR3 Beta 2, while Google had not announced it. The connector can set up eSIM profiles, convert physical SIMs to eSIMs, transfer and restore profiles, and delete active profiles; Android Authority said a tested prompt started the eSIM setup process. The connector cannot activate an already installed eSIM or change billing plans, and the report notes that teardown findings may not reach public release.
The partially working integration suggests Gemini can carry out device-management actions beyond answering questions, although its availability and final form remain unannounced.

TL;DR
- A new SIM Manager connector for Gemini has appeared on a Pixel 9 running the Android 17 QPR3 beta, likely by accident.
- It lets Gemini set up a new eSIM, convert a physical SIM to an eSIM, transfer profiles, restore them from a backup, and delete them.
- The connector’s details page also shows the rules Gemini follows, including several things it won’t do, like turning on an eSIM you’ve already installed.
Gemini can already work with a long list of apps on your phone, from Gmail to YouTube Music. Now it looks like Google wants its AI assistant to help with something a lot less exciting but much more annoying — setting up your eSIM.
