Unitree's Wang Xingxing says G1 has produced 10,000–20,000 units
At the 2026 World Physical AI Conference and Unitree partner ecosystem event on Oct 22, founder Wang Xingxing said Unitree's G1 humanoid, launched in May 2024, has cumulatively rolled off the line at roughly 10,000 to 20,000 units and called it the world's best-selling humanoid; no third-party sales data was cited. He also said Unitree's internal tests showed GPT-6 Astra could control a robot with zero training to paint, clean brushes and play Go, while acknowledging that real-world manipulation remains error-prone. Wang predicted physical AI could see major breakthroughs in one to two years, or two to three at the slower end, and said Unitree is developing a "Physical AI Robot Self-Evolution V1" system.
Wang presented general-purpose models such as GPT-6 Astra as able to control robots without task-specific programming, while the production volume and best-selling ranking remain Unitree's own claims.
