Claude Haiku 5.5 arrives on Google Cloud and OpenRouter
Anthropic's Claude Haiku 5.5 is now officially available on Google Cloud, callable through Model Garden, according to a post from Google AI's DEV community account, and OpenRouter said the model is live on its platform too. OpenRouter described it as the first Haiku model to support reasoning effort, roughly 75% cheaper than its predecessor, measuring more than 100 tokens per second while citing a clear benchmark improvement without giving figures. Google's post calls Haiku 5.5 the fastest and most efficient member of the Claude 5.5 family, built for high-volume, latency-sensitive agentic work.
Availability through two distribution channels gives developers cheaper, faster access to a reasoning-capable Haiku model for high-volume agent workflows, though the claimed benchmark gains are not quantified.
Hey developers!
If you’ve been building autonomous agents or multi-agent orchestrations, you already know the pain: latency degrades the user experience, and high token volume stretches production budgets.
Developer choice is important to us so today, we're excited to share that Anthropic’s Claude Haiku 5.5 is officially available on Google Cloud!
As the fastest, most efficient member of the Claude 5.5 family, Claude Haiku 5.5 is engineered from the ground up for high-volume, latency-sensitive agentic work. It is designed to be the ultimate supporting player in your agent systems.
