Apple TV 4K (4th gen) vs Google TV Streamer: Siri AI versus Gemini for TV
The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K goes on sale Nov. 13, 2026, at $299 in the US, with preorders opening Oct. 13; it uses an A19 chip that Apple says delivers up to 50% faster CPU performance and twice the GPU performance of the previous generation, plus three far-field microphones for hands-free Siri AI. Google TV Streamer costs $149.99 (up from $99.99 at its September 2024 launch) and has been rolling out Gemini for TV since November 2025, with Matter and Thread support and formats including Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HLG and Dolby Atmos. Both can act as smart-home hubs, but the new Apple TV 4K has not shipped and Apple has not published full specs such as RAM, storage and Wi-Fi, so no independent head-to-head testing exists yet.
For households already on Apple Home or HomePods, hands-free Siri AI and four-speaker surround sound are the main draws; otherwise the Gemini for TV-equipped Google TV Streamer is the cheaper option, showing AI assistants now shape hardware buying decisions.
