Trump's AI-to-SI rebrand gains ground as Silicon Valley leaders fall in line
Several outlets report that President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to use “Super Intelligence” (SI) instead of “Artificial Intelligence” (AI) in official documents, reports and websites, and posted on Truth Social that the White House considers anyone using the term “Artificial Intelligence” to be “THE ENEMY.” Elon Musk then renamed the SpaceXAI account to SpaceX Super Intelligence (@SpaceXSI), Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff announced AIForce would become SIForce, Nvidia referenced “super intelligence research” within a $1 billion commitment to scientific advancement, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella repeatedly used the term in a post calling for an “emergency brake” for AI. The reports note this does not mean the industry has formally dropped “AI” — the main US government site still uses the ai.gov domain, and interest in the new term remains largely limited to the US.
A politically driven renaming could blur the distinction between today's AI systems and the far more capable machines the term “super intelligence” originally described.
