Compal chases AI servers: revenue share seen at 10% this year, 30-40% by 2027
TechNews, citing a Jing Weekly report, writes that Compal — once seen as an "AI server outsider" — is trying to catch up fast. Servers accounted for only about 2% of its revenue in 2025, but that is forecast to reach roughly 10% this year; with NT$4.03 billion spent on a Daxi plant in Taoyuan plus added capacity in Texas and Vietnam, the company aims to reach 30–40% by 2027. Chairman Chen Jui-tsung, who in 2024 set a goal of a top-three AI server position, now says the near-term target is to reach the industry's middle tier, with current AI server revenue coming mainly from GPU-buying neoclouds; he said large cloud service provider orders could start ramping in late Q4 this year or early next year.
It shows a legacy notebook contract manufacturer trying to move up the AI server supply chain, making cloud-provider order wins a gauge of how AI hardware manufacturing is shifting.
