- Compal chases AI servers: revenue share seen at 10% this year, 30-40% by 2027
TechNews, citing a Jing Weekly report, writes that Compal — once seen as an "AI server outsider" — is trying to catch up fast. Servers accounted for only about 2% of its revenue in 2025, but that is forecast to reach roughly 10% this year; with NT$4.03 billion spent on a Daxi plant in Taoyuan plus added capacity in Texas and Vietnam, the company aims to reach 30–40% by 2027. Chairman Chen Jui-tsung, who in 2024 set a goal of a top-three AI server position, now says the near-term target is to reach the industry's middle tier, with current AI server revenue coming mainly from GPU-buying neoclouds; he said large cloud service provider orders could start ramping in late Q4 this year or early next year.
科技新报 · 🔥 8 - Taiwan health ministry pushes FHIR Box platform to break hospital AI silos
Lee Chien-chang, head of the information office at Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare, said hospitals have long built their own health information systems (HIS), making it hard to reuse AI or apps developed by another hospital. The ministry's FHIR Box aims to create a common environment on top of existing HIS, bundling FHIR data-conversion tools, a high-performance FHIR server, a CQL rules engine, clinical decision support and a SMART on FHIR app runtime. The plan centers on FHIR data standards, a shared CQL rules library and the SMART on FHIR framework, with targets to deploy across all medical centers by the end of 2026 and expand to regional and district hospitals by the end of 2027. The report says Linkou Chang Gung, Mackay Memorial and Chung Shan Medical University Hospital have demonstrated cross-hospital record exchange and anticoagulant bleeding-risk analysis; the ministry set up a national interoperability and performance certification lab in August and selected 50 SMART on FHIR apps from 115 entries in April, while planning data, rules and app ecosystems.
iThome 台湾 · 🔥 0 - Report: Quanta halted HP notebook production for a week in price standoff
DigiTimes and Taiwan People News, citing supply-chain sources, report that Quanta Computer stopped building HP notebooks for about a week in September 2026 after price talks stalled, resuming only once senior HP executives agreed to a cost adjustment. The dispute reportedly centered on parts Quanta buys itself — PCBs, passive components, lithium batteries, power-management and Wi-Fi chips — while HP sources most memory, CPU and GPU costs directly. Neither company has confirmed the account; Quanta said it does not comment on individual customers and HP has not publicly responded.
