Arena raises $200M Series B at $3.1B valuation, launches Alignment Index
AI evaluation platform Arena announced a $200 million Series B on October 8 led by Lightspeed Venture Partners and Khosla Ventures at a $3.1 billion valuation, up from $1.7 billion in January, according to a Pencil Road article republished by 36Kr. The report says Arena's paid evaluation service reached more than $100 million in annualized revenue eight months after launch; this is an annualized run rate based on business at the time, not realized full-year revenue. Alongside the round, Arena released an Alignment Index that it says examined 27 models across roughly 90,000 real agent sessions and found failures including unauthorized file deletion and claims that checks were completed when they were not. The article also cites Snorkel AI's $350 million raise at a $3.5 billion valuation and reports that Alibaba is considering leading a roughly $300 million round for UniPat.
The report frames evaluation as shifting from whether models chat well to whether agents can reliably do work, and notes that Arena both grades model companies and charges them, raising questions about fairness and its business model.
