Google Reportedly Bid $10M for Spirit Airlines Data as micro1 Expands Purchases
Google reportedly offered $10 million for Spirit Airlines’ internal records, including about 100 million emails, 500 million Microsoft Teams messages, spreadsheets, calendars and other business materials, to improve its AI models. Separately, micro1 announced a plan to spend $1 billion over 12 months buying or licensing real companies’ operational data and converting it into reinforcement-learning environments.
The report identifies real business records as an emerging source of training data for AI systems, while micro1’s plan reflects substantial spending on environments derived from genuine business workflows. It also notes obstacles such as authorization reviews, privacy handling, task extraction and result validation.
