Agent Skills open specification is published
The Agent Skills specification repository now publishes documentation and format details for extending AI agents with specialized knowledge and workflows. A skill is a folder containing a required SKILL.md file with metadata and task instructions, plus optional scripts, references, templates and other resources; agents load full instructions progressively when relevant. The repository says Anthropic originally developed the format before releasing it as an open standard.
The documented SKILL.md structure and progressive-disclosure mechanism provide a concrete basis for portable skills that can be reused across compatible agent products.
