Reddit user shows eight-Radeon R9700 rig
Reddit user /u/NunzeCs showed a rig upgraded from four to eight Radeon R9700 GPUs, saying the added capacity would provide more room for larger models. The listed system includes a Threadripper 9955WX, 128GB of DDR5 5600 memory, an ASRock WRX 90 WS EVO motherboard, and Seasonic power supplies rated at 2200W and 1600W. The user reported problems with a bifurcation card and six extension cables and said they planned to buy a retimer. They also said they were running QFN and preferred “QFN with Radiance” after trying GLM 5.3 Flash. The post does not provide benchmarks or detail the nature of the cable problems.
The post documents an enthusiast's effort to expand multi-GPU capacity for larger models, while also highlighting unresolved connection hardware issues. It is a single user account and does not establish system performance, stability or broader market impact.
| Just wanted to Show my rig. The base case is an older Corsair with a cheap AliExpress GPU Mount on top. The System: -Threadripper 9955WX -128GB DDR5 5600, just to expensive to go for 256 -Asrock WRX 90 WS EVO -2200W Seasonic + 1600W Seasonic PSU -8x R9700 -Bifurcation Card and 6 Extension Cables, but I have some problems and I will buy a retimer. I upgraded from 4x GPUs to 8x, so when new bigger models will arrive I have more room. At the moment still running qfn, tried GLM 5.3 Flash but QFN with radiance is just a really good experience. submitted by /u/NunzeCs [link] [comments] |
