Google's rumored Home Display should borrow five things from Apple HomeView
An Android Authority opinion piece argues that Google's rumored Home Display should copy five things Apple got right with the HomeView: a higher-resolution screen, a wall-mount option, a capable processor for on-device AI, cross-device handoff, and a touch-first interface. It notes the HomeView is a 7-inch square display at 220 PPI versus 170 PPI on the Nest Hub and 150 PPI on the Nest Hub Max, and that its A18 chip handles Siri AI requests locally, pulling personal data from a nearby iPhone or iPad. The article also says the HomeView costs $299 with wall mounts sold separately and a third-party PoE mount coming next year, while noting the Nest Audio and Nest Mini were discontinued and the second-generation Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max are out of stock; the Google Home Display itself remains unannounced.
On-device AI and cross-device handoff are becoming table stakes for smart-home hubs, but this is still a wishlist for an unannounced Google product.
