China Mobile's Hohhot AI data center expansion lifts total compute to 20,100P
The B25 and B27 expansion of China Mobile's Hohhot intelligent computing center, built by China Construction Third Engineering Bureau, has been completed, according to Inner Mongolia Daily, with a contract value of 2.7 billion yuan, about 44,500 square meters of floor area and 120MW of IT power. After commissioning, the site's total compute reaches 20,100P, of which 16,700P is AI compute, with 90% serving the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and 88% of power coming from green electricity; a 400G OTN backbone gives a one-way Hohhot-to-Beijing latency of 3.5 milliseconds. The center, previously described as the world's largest single intelligent computing center operated by a telecom carrier, went into service in December 2025 with roughly 20,000 AI accelerator cards and a domestic AI chip share above 85%.
It is a flagship node of China's national "East Data, West Computing" program and expands low-latency, largely green-powered domestic compute capacity for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
