CXMT swings to profit on AI-driven DRAM demand, but shares fall
ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) issued preliminary results on the evening of Oct 16, guiding to first-nine-month revenue of RMB 265–270 billion, up 726%–741.5% year on year, and net profit of RMB 131–132.5 billion, reversing a RMB 5.28 billion net loss a year earlier. The company attributed the turnaround to fast-growing global AI compute demand since the second half of 2025, which it said caused DRAM shortages and price increases. On the morning of Oct 19 its shares fell as much as 6.31%, erasing about RMB 192.7 billion in market value and dropping it from the top of A-share market-cap rankings; TechNews put the decline at 6.5%. Based on the guidance, third-quarter revenue rose 589%–619% year on year but sequential growth slowed versus the second quarter, and both Longsys and TrendForce noted DRAM price increases had narrowed.
The gap between CXMT's results and its share slide shows investors reassessing the AI-driven memory upcycle, with Counterpoint Research putting CXMT's share of global DRAM revenue at 10% in Q3 2026, up from 5% a year earlier.
