- China’s AI short-drama boom faces soaring traffic costs
A 妙投APP analysis by Duan Mingzhu says China’s AI short-drama market reached RMB 22 billion in the first half of 2026 and is forecast to exceed RMB 40 billion for the year. At its 2026 Creator Conference in Hangzhou on October 16, Yuewen (China Literature) announced its first AI premium animation projects, including “Cyber Hero Legend” and “Unreasonable Beast Taming,” and said it will build an AI premium video matrix spanning comic drama, animation, live-action-plus-AI shorts and medium-to-long series. The company upgraded its DramaBuddy comic-drama assistant into a one-stop OPC platform, claiming it connects an author-approved IP library, AI production, one-click conversion of finished works into 10 languages and global distribution, with creator ratings and tiered incentives.
