   Xiaomi Auto opens second Vehicle Assistant beta recruitment

   Xiaomi Auto announced recruitment for the second public beta of the Vehicle Assistant in the Xiaomi Auto App, according to IT之家. The vendor says the feature supports conversational vehicle-status queries, immediate or scheduled vehicle controls, Xiaomi Super Task creation, driving-style summaries and memory of vehicle-use habits. The feature remains under testing and applicants will be selected based on registration information. Selected owners can participate by upgrading to the Xiaomi Auto App beta without updating the vehicle system.

   Lei Jun: Xiaomi plans over RMB 200B in hardcore tech R&D over next five years

   Speaking at the 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference on October 21, Xiaomi founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun said the company invested RMB 105.5 billion in hardcore technology R&D over the past five years and expects related investment to exceed RMB 200 billion over the next five, citing chips, operating systems and AI embodied intelligence as focus areas. He also said Xiaomi has built what he called the world's largest consumer IoT platform, with more than 1.1 billion connected devices as of the end of the second quarter, a company claim not independently verified in the reports. Lei Jun further argued that the "second half" of intelligent connected vehicles will be decided by ecosystem strength rather than how smart a car is, and disclosed that Xiaomi Auto deliveries have passed 800,000 units at an average price above RMB 260,000, according to DoNews.

   Xiaomi Auto rolls out HyperOS 1.18 OTA with urban assisted-driving upgrades for SU7 and YU7

   Xiaomi Auto announced that the OTA Xiaomi HyperOS 1.18 update is now available, bringing urban assisted-driving improvements to the SU7 and YU7; models equipped with Xiaomi HAD can upgrade. Xiaomi's promotional points say acceleration and braking are smoother with less abrupt stopping, lane changes are more natural and precise with gentler detours, and the system can sense traffic-flow changes for more efficient intersections. IT之家 previously reported that the YU7 received the 1.18.0 push on October 12, in which the optimized "end-to-end assisted driving" was renamed "full-domain navigation assist," with parking-space-level navigation covering more shopping districts and office buildings.
