   Tesla to wind down Cybertruck production in 2027 for Cybercab output

   Elon Musk said on X that Tesla will begin winding down Cybertruck production at Gigafactory Texas around the middle of next year, freeing capacity for increased Cybercab robotaxi output, and he did not disclose a firm end date or whether production would move elsewhere or stop entirely. Tesla does not report Cybertruck deliveries separately, and Electrek estimated roughly 7,000-8,000 units were delivered in Q3 2026, while Cox Automotive put US sales at 20,237 in 2025 and 4,323 in Q3 2026. Cybertruck chief engineer Wes Morrill said the truck was an important vehicle for developing Tesla technology and that its technology, such as steer-by-wire, carries over to Cybercab, which itself faces an NHTSA compliance review.
