- iOS 27 adds video apps and Siri AI to CarPlay, but only on newer iPhones
TechNews, summarizing an Engadget roundup, reports that Apple's iOS 27 brings several CarPlay updates: support for video apps (usable only while the car is parked, switching to audio-only once driving begins), a persistent mini player with album art, playback controls and a progress bar on the Now Playing screen, new wallpapers, and route-data sharing with the vehicle so navigation apps can compare arrival times and suggest charging stops. The updated Siri AI also reaches CarPlay, answering general knowledge questions and pulling personal context from mail, messages and calendar, but because CarPlay runs entirely through the iPhone, the feature is limited to iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 and later; an iPhone 14 still gets the mini player, progress bar and wallpapers but not the new Siri. The report adds that video support requires automaker implementation, so apps such as YouTube and Netflix may not work in every vehicle, and that Siri AI is not offered in the EU due to local regulations.
科技新报 · 🔥 9 - YouTube Music begins labeling songs made primarily with generative AI
YouTube said on Oct. 14 that YouTube Music now shows an “AI” label on tracks “created primarily using generative AI,” including AI-generated composition, arrangement and vocals; tapping the label opens a panel explaining how AI was used. According to TechRepublic, Ars Technica and others, identification combines three tiers of partner disclosure (fully gen AI, partly gen AI, no gen AI) with YouTube's own detection tools, which may use SynthID watermarking and C2PA metadata, and undisclosed tracks can still be flagged automatically. YouTube says the label will expand to the main YouTube app; unlike Deezer and TIDAL, which let listeners filter AI music, YouTube's approach centers on disclosure and does not by itself affect a track's monetization eligibility.
The Verge AI · 🔥 0 - Deezer will soon let users filter out AI-generated music
Deezer said Tuesday it is building a new toggle that lets users filter AI-generated music out of its platform, with the feature expected before the end of the year. When switched on, AI-generated tracks, albums and related artists will no longer appear in search results. Deezer cited a survey from last year in which about 45% of its customers wanted a way to remove AI music from their feeds; the company added AI-detection tooling last year and said in July that more than 50% of daily uploads to its platform were AI-generated, averaging 90,000 tracks a day.
TechCrunch AI · 🔥 0 - Apple acqui-hires Huxe team and licenses its audio tech
According to iThome and AIbase, Apple has struck a "reverse acqui-hire" deal with personalized-audio startup Huxe: it made employment offers to certain Huxe employees and obtained a non-exclusive license to the startup's intellectual property, filing the transaction with the European Commission on June 9. Huxe was founded by developers who had built the AI-generated podcast feature in NotebookLM (now Gemini Notebook); its app shut down on May 21, pulling from the app stores, ending service and deleting user data. Apple's filing describes Huxe as a mobile app for building personalized audio content, but does not name which employees received offers, whether they accepted, or what Apple plans to do with the team and technology.
iThome 台湾 · 🔥 0 - Show HN: Atticus, a hold-to-talk macOS assistant built on Claude -p
Ninth-grader Saarth posted Atticus on Hacker News, an open-source macOS assistant that runs when you hold Control-Option-Space and speak or type a task. Simple tasks such as opening apps, playing a Spotify playlist or web queries are handled locally and typically finish in under a second — opening apps takes about 0.08 seconds — while more complex tasks go to Claude via claude -p, requiring no API key and running on an existing Claude Pro or Max plan, with the author saying tasks average a fraction of a cent. Atticus remembers the steps of a task done correctly the first time and replays them later without AI (a new-meeting workflow dropped from about 30 seconds to 5–8 seconds), and it builds up personal context; deletes, sends, purchases and file writes prompt for confirmation first. It requires macOS 26 or later for local voice transcription, and the author says a meeting copilot is in progress and that the free, open-source project still has many rough edges.
Hacker News · AI(100+ 分) · 🔥 0 - Apple acqui-hires AI audio startup Huxe, licenses its IP
The EU's Digital Markets Act transparency database shows Apple has struck a deal with AI audio startup Huxe giving it the right to make employment offers to certain Huxe employees and a non-exclusive license to Huxe's intellectual property. It is an acqui-hire and licensing arrangement rather than an acquisition of the company; the filing does not disclose the financial terms, which employees received offers, or whether any accepted. 9to5Mac and TechCrunch say Apple notified the European Commission on June 9, 2026, while PingWest reported the notification date as June 2025. Huxe was founded by three former Google NotebookLM team members — Raiza Martin, Jason Spielman and Stephen Hughes — launched invite-only in June 2025, opened to the public that September alongside a $4.6 million funding round, and generated daily audio briefings from email and calendar plus podcast-style conversations; it announced it was shutting down in May 2026 and ended service on May 28. Reports describe the deal as at least Apple's fourth publicly disclosed AI-related transaction this year, though Apple has said nothing about how or whether the technology will be used.
IT之家 AI · 🔥 0 - AI music streaming fraudster gets 18 months, must forfeit $8M
The US Department of Justice said Michael Smith of Cornelius, North Carolina, was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison and ordered to forfeit $8,091,843.64 for using AI-generated songs and automated bot accounts to fraudulently collect streaming royalties. Prosecutors said he and co-conspirators uploaded hundreds of thousands of AI-made tracks between 2017 and 2024, using fake emails, fraudulently obtained debit cards, VPNs and playback software to generate billions of plays on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and YouTube Music. The DOJ called it its first prosecution of AI-assisted music streaming fraud; the court noted that in April 2023 his tracks drew 80.9 million YouTube Music family-plan streams, versus 9.3 million for Taylor Swift's entire catalog that month.
