  1. Oxylabs, Decodo and three more scraping brands unite under Source

Five proxy and web-scraping brands — Oxylabs, Decodo, Webshare, ScrapingBee and Honeygain — now formally sit under a single Vilnius-based umbrella called Source, after years of being sold and reviewed as rivals; three of them appear in TechRadar's own best-proxy picks. Source says demand across its companies rose fourfold in a year as AI agents, next-generation search tools and frontier AI products pull live data from the web, that its systems process 1.5 million requests per second, and that it is expanding into web search APIs built for AI agents. The group says it has no customers or products of its own, handling patents, procurement, hiring and compliance while each brand keeps its own team, product strategy and customer base; the report also notes that Oxylabs is a defendant in Reddit's scraping lawsuit.

  2. AI fakes to warn friends and family about, from fake pets to fake damage photos

A TechRadar reporter rounds up the AI-generated fakes and scams he has seen over more than a year in Reddit's r/isthisAI community, where users ask others to judge whether photos, videos and messages are real. The categories include faked rental-property damage used to demand money from renters, fake notices and announcements, AI images attached to real news events, romance scams, puppy-sale scams, politically motivated misinformation images, and fabricated documents such as receipts, medical photos and plane tickets. The author says he tested whether ChatGPT would help him create fake certificates, fossils and receipts and that in most cases it did not stop him; the piece advises reverse image searching, checking original sources, being wary of emotionally charged content, and notes Google has widened access to its SynthID Detector, which does not catch all AI content.

  3. Gudea raises $7M seed to use AI to spot social media crises early

Gudea, a startup founded in 2023 that calls itself a “storm tracker for the internet,” pitched its AI platform on the Startup Battlefield stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, saying it analyzes how narratives travel across more than 500 mainstream and fringe sites including X, Reddit and TikTok rather than just counting mentions. The company said it has raised $7 million in seed funding co-led by Mudita Venture Partners and Silicon Road Ventures, bringing total funding to roughly $15 million, and has nearly 40 clients including a Fortune 50 telecom, a Fortune 50 retailer, government agencies and what it describes as one of the world's largest AI labs. CEO Keith Presley said inauthentic activity now appears around about nine of every ten items the company examines, up from roughly one in four in 2021, and said Gudea plans city-block-level “geolocation for narratives” next year.

  4. Jailbroken PS5 runs 27B LLM locally at 20.9 tok/s via homebrew llama.cpp port

A Reddit user turned an unofficial llama.cpp port, dubbed "PS5LM," into a native PS5 app, moving inference from the CPU to the GPU via Mesa's RADV driver over Vulkan and raising usable memory from 6GB to 11.4GB. Constrained by the console's 16GB of GDDR6, it could only run a roughly 2-bit quantized Qwen 27B model (6.8GB of weights, 64K context, 91% memory use) at 20.9 tok/s, while smaller models were faster: Gemma 4 E4B at 61 tok/s and Llama 3.2 3B at 124 tok/s, with total power draw of 86W and a 54°C temperature. The trade-offs are heavier quantization errors and weaker reasoning, plus a jailbreak that voids the warranty and risks online bans.

  5. last30days agent skill adds native Codex plugin, new sources

The open-source AI agent skill last30days has updated to v3.11.1. According to the project, it has merged 175 pull requests since the v3.3 announcement in May — 122 of them from 52 community contributors across 15 releases. The skill lets an agent search Reddit, X, YouTube, Hacker News, Polymarket, GitHub and other platforms in parallel, rank results by upvotes, likes and money at stake, and synthesize one brief. This update adds a first-class OpenAI Codex plugin with renderer-aware citations, free keyless sources including arXiv, Techmeme and Digg, a rebuilt X search pipeline, and a doctor command that checks each source's health.

  6. Semrush: ChatGPT leans on news sites more than any other AI platform

Semrush, which Adobe owns, published its 2026 AI Visibility Index, saying it ran 2.5 million UK prompts and 25 million US prompts each month across ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews, covering January to July 2026 and 22 industry categories. It found news and information sites took an average 29.5% of citations among ChatGPT's 100 most-cited UK domains and 19.6% in the US, rising month by month from January to July and ahead of Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews. The study also found being mentioned is not the same as being cited as a source — fewer than half of top-100 mentioned brands also appeared among top-100 cited domains — while Google's AI Overviews cited medical reference sites more than rivals and video streaming sites led by YouTube took the largest citation share there.

  7. AI reputation management: how ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini describe you

This guide, contributed by reputation firm Reputation Resolutions, argues that ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini do not invent reputations but repeat what they find in training data and live web retrieval, so fixing the cited sources is more effective than arguing with a chatbot. It cites ChatGPT reaching 900 million weekly active users in February 2026 and Google's Gemini app passing 750 million monthly users by the end of 2025, and says Wikipedia accounts for 47.9% of ChatGPT's top-10 cited sources, Reddit 46.7% for Perplexity, and Reddit, YouTube and LinkedIn 21%, 18.8% and 13% respectively in Google AI Overviews. The recommended process is a baseline audit that records each platform's answer and cited links, sorting claims into accurate, outdated, false or mistaken-identity categories, fixing false allegations first and outranking content that cannot be removed. The user figures and citation shares are the article's own claims and were not independently verified.

  8. User used Claude to trace faulty G.SKILL RAM, landing a free replacement

According to Wccftech, citing a post by Reddit user "u/srpraveen97," a PC that had just turned five years old began throwing repeated BSODs with error codes 0x0A, 0x1E, 0x3B and 0x1A; the owner used Claude to troubleshoot and concluded the G.SKILL memory was the culprit — an account that has not been independently verified. With DRAM prices high, buying a new kit was seen as too costly, so Claude also helped the user work through the RMA process, resulting in G.SKILL providing two replacement sticks free under a lifetime warranty, though the user still paid shipping and tariffs. In the same thread, another user said their similar BSODs were actually caused by a bank protection program installed on the system, which stopped the crashes once uninstalled. The report also cites earlier cases where Claude wrote a macOS driver for an incompatible HP printer and helped diagnose slow internet.

  9. Agent-Reach: an open-source CLI that gives AI agents internet access

Agent Reach is an open-source "capability layer" that lets command-line-capable agents such as Claude Code, OpenClaw and Cursor read web pages, YouTube captions, GitHub and RSS through a single CLI, and — after login setup — search and read Twitter/X, Reddit, Bilibili and Xiaohongshu. The project claims all upstream tools are open source and that no API fees apply, with cookies and tokens stored only locally in ~/.agent-reach/config.yaml (mode 600), plus an agent-reach doctor command to check each channel's health. Its README also warns that cookie-based platforms carry detection and ban risk and recommends using a dedicated throwaway account rather than a primary one.
