  1. Adobe optimizes Photoshop, Premiere and Substance 3D for NVIDIA RTX Spark

Adobe and NVIDIA said they are expanding their partnership to optimize Adobe's flagship tools — Photoshop, Premiere, Substance 3D, Frame.io and Brand Concierge — for the NVIDIA RTX Spark superchip, which the companies say delivers up to 2x faster AI processing, editing, color and effects. Adobe rearchitected Photoshop around GPU-accelerated compositing, RTX-accelerated demanding post-production workflows in Premiere and the texturing steps in Substance 3D Painter, extending the strategic partnership the two announced in March. Frame.io now uses NVIDIA NVDEC and TensorRT with CUDA for cloud media processing, with early vendor results showing roughly 5x faster embedding generation, a 4–5x improvement in P95 processing latency and an approximately 80% smaller search proxy; Adobe Brand Concierge was optimized on NVIDIA Nemotron open models and will be available to enterprise customers later this year, and NVIDIA selected it to power conversational experiences on NVIDIA.com.

  2. Developer builds 7 free open-source Adobe alternatives with Claude Opus 5.5

Software engineer Brandon Thomas has launched ArtCraft, an open-source project that uses Anthropic's Claude Opus 5.5 and the Rust language to recreate seven Adobe Creative Cloud apps: PhotoCraft (Photoshop), LightCraft (Lightroom), VectorCraft (Illustrator), FilmCraft (Premiere Pro), EffectCraft (After Effects), DesignCraft (InDesign) and PdfCraft (Acrobat), with interfaces and workflows deliberately kept close to Adobe's. TMTPost reports the project has drawn more than 30,000 developer followers and over 100,000 likes on GitHub, and the team lead claims community feedback could bring it to roughly 99% feature parity with Adobe's software within months — a claim that remains unverified. The local editing tools are free and open source, while ArtCraft's cloud AI generation services run on credits and paid plans; reviewers at TechRadar and Creative Bloq found gaps in PhotoCraft's file-format support and saving, LightCraft's color management and masking, and FilmCraft's audio and editing. Thomas describes the code as clean-room implementations, though the similar interfaces and interaction patterns could raise intellectual-property questions.

  3. Dev rebuilds 7 Adobe apps in Rust with Opus 5.5 — hands-on finds them far from ready

A developer who describes himself as a 15-year industry veteran used Claude Opus 5.5 to help recreate Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro, After Effects and InDesign in "100% pure native Rust," grouped under the ArtCraft name (PhotoCraft, FilmCraft and others). The apps are free, multi-platform (Windows, Mac, Linux and web), and tiny — around 80–90MB versus 6.4GB for Photoshop — but TechRadar's hands-on found PhotoCraft can't open HEIC files, has flaky selection tools and only saves as JPG, while FilmCraft can't drag-trim clips and plays back audio as loud static. With PhotoCraft at version 0.20 and FilmCraft at 0.2.1, the reviewer concludes they are nowhere near ready and recommends established free alternatives such as DaVinci Resolve for now.
