   OpenAI to Acquire Pierre Computer and Add Code Storage to Codex

   OpenAI announced on November 4 that it plans to acquire Pierre Computer Company, which develops Code Storage and the open-source Trees, Diffs and Highlights tools. Codex already uses Pierre’s Trees and Diffs libraries for file browsing and reviewing changes. After the acquisition closes, OpenAI plans to bring Code Storage features into Codex and work with Pierre on Git workflows for teams using coding agents. Pierre’s open-source projects will remain open source, and customers will continue to be able to use Code Storage. Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction remains subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, and the companies will operate separately until closing.

   OpenAI unveils Pando Git backend for Codex-driven development

   OpenAI introduced Pando, a Git backend designed to support the parallel development enabled by Codex. The system is compatible with the Git protocol and client and now powers all development in OpenAI's monorepo. OpenAI reports that Pando cut median push latency by nearly 80% and now serves nearly a petabyte of Git data per day.
