  1. TSMC A14 reportedly slated for mass production in first half of 2028

Wccftech, citing DigiTimes, reports that TSMC's A14 process is planned to enter mass production in the first half of 2028, following risk production in the second half of 2027. Fab 20 and Fab 25 are named as the primary production sites. ETNews, as cited by Wccftech, reports that A14 is intended to scale SRAM bit cells from 0.021 µm² to 0.017 µm². DigiTimes also reportedly estimates that TSMC's 2028 A14 capacity could be 7.5 times Intel's 14A capacity; this figure is attributed to the report.

  2. Intel CTO Says Leading-Edge Wafer Output Can Roughly Double

Intel CTO Pushkar Ranade told the Dwarkesh Podcast that global leading-edge wafer output could roughly double rather than increase tenfold, even with sufficient funding. IT之家 and The Next Web reported that equipment suppliers, their upstream suppliers, and sub-suppliers must expand together, while EUV tool lead times of about 18 months constrain new capacity. Ranade also said AI compute had grown about threefold annually over the previous decade, though the reports provide no independent methodology for that figure.

  3. Intel advances Fab 62 and Ohio One construction

Intel has begun installing production tools at Fab 62 in Arizona and reported construction progress at the Ohio One complex in New Albany. Intel also confirmed integrating High-NA EUV lithography into high-volume manufacturing, while later reporting said it is shifting some capacity from client processors toward data-center CPUs amid AI-related demand. Fab 62’s operating and mass-production schedules differ across reports, and its process-node assignment has not been formally disclosed.

  4. Musk sought to buy Intel, TSMC and Micron fabs before pivoting Terafab to partnerships

Elon Musk first tried to buy wafer manufacturing facilities from Intel, TSMC and Micron before building his Terafab chip project, and turned to partnerships after being turned down, according to a Korean media report from The Elec relayed by Wccftech and TechNews. Intel has directly partnered with Terafab and will support it through its Intel 14A manufacturing technology, while TSMC's role remains disputed: Musk said TSMC could at most be a subcontractor, and TSMC CEO C.C. Wei confirmed talks but said TSMC must operate the plants itself for any partnership to work. Terafab has reportedly held discussions with Korean suppliers as well as Lam Research and Applied Materials, plus piping, slurry and cleaning-chemical vendors, and industry observers expect an initial 100,000 wafers per month before 2030 against Musk's eventual goal of one million wafers per month.
