   CERN and Mistral sign intent to build Large Physics Model for collider physics

   CERN and French AI company Mistral signed a statement of intent on 15 October for a long-term strategic partnership centred on a “Large Physics Model”, which CERN calls the first foundation model for collider physics. The model would be trained on billions of simulated proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider to reconstruct collisions, identify particles, flag unexpected signals and evaluate future detector designs. No budget or timeline was disclosed; CERN says it has stored about one exabyte of LHC data and expects collision volumes to rise tenfold with the HL-LHC upgrade due around 2030.
