Android Authority found code in Google’s Pixel-exclusive Custom Icons app for an “Animated wallpaper” feature, codenamed “catsmile,” that appears to generate short animated videos from still images. A preview was visible in an Android 17 QPR2 beta build, while code strings indicate that generation would require an internet connection and could include daily limits.
