   Mistral releases Timestral, a family of time-series foundation models

   Mistral AI released Timestral on October 15, its first family of time-series foundation models, offered in four sizes from 5M to 209M parameters and described as running efficiently on standard CPUs. The models produce probabilistic multivariate forecasts with 21 quantiles and support past-only and known-future covariates, with domain fine-tuning available through Mistral Forge. Mistral says its 209M model ranks first among pre-trained, zero-shot entries on GIFT-Eval, TIME and fev-bench, but the results are self-reported and the company says they have been submitted to the GIFT-Eval and TIME leaderboards; the models ship under a modified MIT licence with a GitHub repository published and a technical report to follow.

   Huawei-ECNU time-series model tops TIME-leaderboard and GIFT-Eval

   According to Huawei Cloud, a time-series pretrained model called Qiyao, developed jointly by Huawei teams (Huawei Cloud industry large-model team, the 2012 Applied Scenario Innovation Lab and others) and East China Normal University, has topped two international time-series benchmarks: TIME-leaderboard and GIFT-Eval (Pretrained category), as reported by ITHome. Huawei Cloud said the team deeply optimized training and inference on the Ascend ecosystem, yielding a model it describes as highly accurate, robust, general-purpose and easy to engineer. The company says the model can be used directly for zero-shot time-series forecasting in areas such as grid load assessment, industrial equipment anomaly detection and financial trend analysis, and supports low-cost fine-tuning for vertical industries.
