   Houmo says M50 edge chip has 150+ design wins as agents drive on-device AI

   At a Houmo AI ecosystem partner conference on Oct. 14, CEO Wu Qiang said the company's M50 compute-in-memory edge chip has won more than 150 product design wins and serves over 100 customers less than a year after entering mass production, according to TMTPost. Wu also said the surge in AI agents has raised token consumption by two to three orders of magnitude. Other speakers, including Alibaba Cloud's Qwen smart-hardware lead Xu Chao, argued that shrinking models and raising intelligence density are key to moving compute from cloud to device, while the report notes edge AI still faces thin use cases, deployment barriers and unclear business models.

   MemSilicon tapes out MountTai 2026, a 1Gb RRAM chip

   MemSilicon said on October 12 that it completed tape-out of MountTai 2026, its first high-density, large-capacity RRAM chip built on a 1TnR cell approach, and is now moving to verification. The chip uses a 28nm CMOS platform and a 1T4R structure — one select transistor shared by four resistive memory cells — with 1Gb per die, a density of 30Mb/mm², access latency under 20ns and on-chip hardware error correction. MemSilicon says the device balances large capacity, high density and fast reads, and is pursuing three product lines: embedded RRAM IP, high-density large-capacity RRAM, and hybrid compute-in-memory combining RRAM with DRAM.

   MOSI raises over RMB 1 billion Pre-A round for real-time multimodal AI

   Shanghai-based model company MOSI announced on October 12 that it has raised more than RMB 1 billion in a Pre-A round led by Huakong Fund, with participation from Guokai Venture Capital, Shanghai Science and Technology Innovation Fund, Xinwei Capital, Xuhui Capital, Zhuiguang Hard Tech Ventures and Lingang Ceyuan Fund, while existing backers including Oriza Holdings, Shanghai Sci-Tech Group and Xinglian Capital reinvested; Duowei Capital is sole financial adviser. The company said the money will fund R&D in omni-modal real-time interaction intelligence and global commercialization. MOSI was incubated from the OpenMOSS team led by Fudan University professor Qiu Xipeng, which released MOSS, one of China's earliest open-source ChatGPT-style models, in February 2023; the company says it has shipped more than 20 speech, vision and multimodal models this year and has previewed MOSS Live, a system pairing a front-end interaction model with a back-end agentic model for AI glasses, cars, home devices and robots. The round comes about half a year after its angel round, led by IDG Capital.

   Global AI Chip Summit 2026: from TOPS to tokens as agents reshape silicon

   The 2026 Global AI Chip Summit in Shanghai brought together more than 60 speakers across an opening session and three forums on large-model AI chips, agent inference chips and embodied-intelligence chips, focused on the computing chain from TOPS to tokens — covering architecture innovation, 3D stacking and near-memory compute, KV cache, new memory types, compute-in-memory, analog computing, RISC-V and token-factory operations. Several vendors used the stage to preview or detail products: Houmo AI said its M50 chip has reached 150+ design wins in half a year of mass production and that its next flagship A20 has taped out; Intel previewed a high-density cabinet with 128 or 192 Granite Rapids processors that it says can run 50,000 concurrent agents; Maitech said its 3D TPU has taped out and is expected back in November. Those figures are vendor claims and have not been independently verified.
