   AI Data Centers Could Reverse US Power-Sector Emissions Gains

   A Sierra Club analysis reported by Bloomberg estimates that planned AI data center demand could raise US power-sector CO2 emissions to 2.1 billion metric tons by 2030, about 42% above 2025 levels. The analysis says much of the additional emissions could come from developer-built natural-gas generation outside the public grid, potentially offsetting 15 years of reductions.
