The 18-institution C-BRAIN consortium is working with NVIDIA on AI systems for Alzheimer’s and other dementia research, using a hybrid centralized and federated approach to let models learn from institutional data without moving it beyond institutional walls. NVIDIA Blog reports that C-BRAIN runs 64 NVIDIA data center GPUs on premises alongside Microsoft Azure cloud nodes, incorporates BioNeMo and MONAI, and has built the open-source agentic research tools OpenScientist and InsightEngine. The consortium also aims to develop a multimodal biological foundation model using neuroimaging, multi-omics, fluid biomarkers and longitudinal clinical data.
