AI film Sanxingdui: Future Memories struggles at the box office

According to 虎嗅 AI, the AI-generated theatrical film 《三星堆：未来往事》 earned less than 1.5 million yuan after more than one week in cinemas, with attendance near 1% and production costs in the tens of millions of yuan. Online reviewers criticized the characters as mechanical and the dialogue as awkward, while the report argues that abundant free AI shorts on Red Fruit have anchored audiences’ perceived value of AI content near zero. The figures were not accompanied by independent financial documentation, and the report did not establish that weaker production quality alone caused the poor performance.
