WeCom and WorkBuddy integrate, placing an AI agent in the contact list
On October 14, Tencent announced a joint release of WeCom and WorkBuddy (WeCom 5.0.12 × WorkBuddy 5.8.0), with WorkBuddy appearing in the WeCom contact list as a conversational bot employees can task like a colleague. The two products share an account system and, within company authorization, open up messaging, documents, meetings and cloud drive capabilities, so results can flow back through WeCom chats, groups, the micro drive or scheduled tasks, while administrators manage seats, permissions and usage from the existing WeCom org structure. Hands-on reports say message triage, document handling, report generation and unread-email summaries work, but approvals are not yet supported, outbound messages require manual confirmation, and WeCom-login data is not shared with existing WorkBuddy accounts.
It moves the office agent out of a standalone app and into an enterprise's existing org chart and collaboration flows, offering a reference model for how AI lands inside companies.
