Waymo首次进军加拿大，多伦多2028年开放自动驾驶出租车
Waymo宣布将首次把自动驾驶出行服务带出美国，计划于2028年在加拿大多伦多地区开放应用内叫车，初期投入少量主力车型Jaguar I-Pace电动SUV，随后逐步增加。未来数日内，Waymo将先由人工驾驶车辆在多伦多绘制街道网络，并让自动驾驶技术适应当地交通模式与路况，测试区域包括Liberty Village、St. Lawrence Market和Yorkdale等地。公司称已打造第六代Waymo Driver系统以应对多伦多冬季极端天气，并与总部位于多伦多的Element Fleet Management合作负责车辆维护、验证驾驶与客户服务。
若计划落地，这将是Waymo在美国以外推出的首个自动驾驶出行服务；该公司自2018年推出全自动驾驶电动车服务，目前已在迈阿密、凤凰城和旧金山湾区等地运营。
Waymo is bringing its autonomous ride services across the border to Canada for the first time.
The company said in a blog post on Friday that its robotaxis will be available for you to book rides in the app in the Toronto area in 2028. It will start with a limited number of its mainstay Jaguar I-Pace electric SUVs, and will add more over time.
But if you’re in Toronto, you can expect to see Waymo cars, driven by humans, in the coming days as the company maps local street networks and acclimates its autonomous technology to traffic patterns and driving conditions.
