Vesta raises $30M Series B to put AI agents into mortgage underwriting
Vesta said it raised a $30M Series B led by Conversion Capital, with Citi Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz and three lenders already using the software participating, bringing total funding to $85M. The startup's AI agents handle mortgage origination work such as document review and data validation, and some lenders use them for underwriting decisions, condition clearing and closing package review; about 40% of tasks running through Vesta are now handled by agents and automated workflows. CEO Mike Yu told TechCrunch demand "exploded in the last year" and revenue is up twelvefold, crediting Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4.5 with following configured instructions over the long stretches mortgage work requires.
It shows vertical AI agents moving into heavily regulated credit decisions, a category the EU AI Act classes as high-risk.
