General Dynamics taps Primordial Labs' Anura voice control for Abrams, Stryker
General Dynamics Land Systems and Primordial Labs announced a master agreement on Oct. 7, 2026 to expand the Anura natural-language control system across the company's platforms, with potential applications including the M1 Abrams main battle tank, the Stryker armored vehicle and the Army's XM30 fighting vehicle planned to replace the M2 Bradley. Anura is not meant to make tanks conversational AI robots; instead it uses everyday speech as a unified human-machine interface so crews can call up camera feeds, switch radio channels or send reports, reducing workload. The system runs locally on the vehicle without cloud AI services, is reportedly not yet installed on XM30 prototypes undergoing Army testing, and the companies do not plan to have it control weapon firing systems.
It shows natural-language interaction moving from consumer devices and drone control into large ground combat vehicles, though reliability under loud, jammed and communications-denied conditions still needs testing.
