Doubao moves toward personal agent with utility payments, taking aim at Alipay
According to a report by 字母榜 (Zimubang), Doubao now supports paying water, electricity and gas bills, with the payment screen handled by a Douyin life-services mini program rather than embedded inside Doubao. Doubao had earlier launched "Travel with Doubao," which bundles navigation, ride-hailing, flights and hotels, plus "Ask Doubao before buying" for purchase advice. The piece argues ByteDance is steering Doubao from a chatbot toward a personal agent, starting with travel, local services and bill payments — a path that could eventually erode Alipay's core turf; it cites 380 million MAU and 140 million DAU for Doubao without sourcing the figures.
Personal agents are seen as a key consumer-AI direction after the chatbot wave, and Doubao's approach shows Chinese giants leaning on mature O2O and mini-program ecosystems rather than US-style cloud computers.
最近，不少人注意到，豆包App开始支持缴纳水费、电费、燃气费等生活费用。输入“交水费”等提示词后，豆包会提示需要绑定户号，并引导用户前往生活缴费界面。
字母榜（ID: wujicaijing）实测发现，上述界面并非嵌入豆包内部，而是抖音此前推出的一款生活服务小程序。
接近豆包人士对此表示，豆包正在逐步建设出行服务、生活缴费等生活场景下的办事能力。
扩展为个人办事的能力，是豆包近期重点投入方向。
国庆假期前不久，豆包上线“出行用豆包”，聚集四个功能模块：地图导航、交通出行、酒店住宿和吃喝玩乐，涵盖导航、周边、打车、高铁、机票、酒店、民宿、餐饮、游玩等功能。
更早时候，豆包还做了“买前问豆包”，提供商品购买建议和链接，用户无需跳转到App外即可完成消费。
