Mozilla launches Firefox Enterprise with self-hosted AI and data controls
iThome Taiwan reported that Mozilla launched Firefox Enterprise, an enterprise browser paired with a management console that organizations can deploy themselves. IT staff can use the console to centrally manage browser policies, employee access permissions, and data transmission and AI tool usage. The product targets organizations with higher security, management and compliance requirements.
According to iThome, the launch places AI tool usage under the same centrally managed browser controls that enterprises use for policies, access and data transmission.
Mozilla推出企業瀏覽器Firefox Enterprise，搭配可由企業自行部署的管理主控臺，讓IT人員集中管理瀏覽器政策、員工存取權限，以及資料傳輸和AI工具的使用。該產品鎖定資安、管理及法規遵循要求較高的組織。
Firefox Enterprise以Firefox瀏覽器為基礎，管理主控臺則可架設在企業自家的基礎設施，員工仍在個人電腦上使用瀏覽器，IT部門透過自家系統統一設定規則，並自行決定管理資料存放的位置。Mozilla過去已提供Firefox長期支援版（ESR）與企業政策設定工具，新產品則將政策管理與相關服務整合至企業可自行運作的管理環境。
管理人員可透過主控臺管理網站與應用程式的存取，並控管資料在瀏覽器中的流向。官方提到，企業可針對指定網站限制文字貼上、檔案上傳、下載或列印，例如阻止員工把工作資料貼到未經核准的AI服務，同時允許使用企業認可的工具。相關規則可由IT部門集中制定，統一套用至受管理的裝置。
Mozilla指出，越來越多企業應用程式透過瀏覽器操作，員工也在瀏覽器登入系統、交換檔案及使用AI工具，瀏覽器因此成為需要納入資安管理的環節。Firefox Enterprise可以與現有身分識別服務、安全資訊與事件管理（SIEM）及行動裝置管理（MDM）系統並存，不必全面更換原有管理工具。
Firefox使用Mozilla自行開發的Gecko引擎，有別於Google主導的Chromium所使用的Blink引擎，以及Apple的WebKit。Mozilla將Gecko視為降低企業對單一瀏覽器技術架構依賴的選項，該公司特別提及歐洲近年重視的數位主權議題，強調企業應能決定管理系統與資料由誰掌握。
Mozilla已發布Firefox Enterprise 158版，目前企業仍須申請早期使用資格。該產品初期銷售重點放在歐洲，其他市場將陸續拓展。Mozilla另在開發Thunderbird Enterprise，計畫將類似的自主管理方式延伸至電子郵件及通訊服務。
