Google AI weekly roundup: SynthID global portal, Nano Banana 2.1, EmbeddingGemma 2
Google AI's weekly roundup announced a batch of updates. SynthID.com is now available globally in English, letting anyone use the detector portal to check whether images, video, or audio were AI-generated by Google or industry partners. Google says Nano Banana 2.1 brings improvements in visual design, subject consistency, and precise spot editing, while EmbeddingGemma 2 is described as its first natively multimodal open model, unifying text, images, video, audio, and code into a single space for on-device embeddings. Google also paired Gemma 4 with BOTANIC-1, a specialized AI trained on plant DNA, to pinpoint mutations that help crops thrive, introduced a Gemini agent for business that runs 24/7 as a universal cloud agent, and added Guided Vision in Gemini Live for real-time visual assistance and dynamic audio descriptions, built alongside the blind and low-vision community.
The batch shows Google pushing multimodal open models, on-device embeddings, and AI content detection while extending agentic and accessibility features to business and consumer use cases.
