DeepSeek API adds web search and fetch, to charge per request from Nov. 1
IT之家 AI, citing a DeepSeek announcement, reports that the DeepSeek API now supports Search and Fetch calls, which had previously been unbilled. Starting at 00:00 Beijing time on November 1, 2026, the interfaces will be charged at 5 yuan per 1,000 successful requests. The report also says both interfaces are powered by DeepSeek's own search engine.
The report says the interfaces were previously free and are now moving to per-successful-request billing, powered by DeepSeek's in-house search engine, extending the API from model calls to retrieval.
