iPadOS 27.2 reportedly adds Mac-style Siri popup when text is selected
According to 9to5Mac, iPadOS 27.2, due to launch the following week, brings over a recent Mac behavior: when text is selected, a small Siri icon appears in the top-left corner of the selection, and hovering over it expands an "Ask Siri" text box. The report says the feature requires a connected trackpad on iPad; without one, selecting text still reveals the full edit menu where Siri can be tapped. The behavior was not available in iPadOS 27, and 9to5Mac frames it alongside other ways to invoke Siri, including voice prompts, the edit menu and a dedicated Siri app.
It shows Apple extending its macOS Siri interaction pattern to the iPad, though the change is described as a minor point-release convenience rather than a new AI capability.

iPadOS 27.2 launches next week, and among its many new features, Apple has also brought over a recent Mac addition: a Siri popup when text is selected.

Siri AI is the tentpole addition to iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and companion releases. And as such, Apple offers lots of ways to access the new, supercharged assistant.
On iPad you can invoke Siri via a “Siri” or “Hey Siri” voice prompt, pull down from the top of the screen, use the new Siri option in the edit menu, open the new Siri app, or my personal favorite: use CMD + Space to open Spotlight and ask Siri a question from there.
