How to use ChatGPT Dots: rollout, setup and pricing
Engadget reports that OpenAI's always-on agent product, Dots, announced at its recent developer conference, is rolling out gradually, starting with ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium subscribers; per Engadget, Pro plans start at $100 per month, with $200 and $500 tiers also available. Each Dot runs on its own cloud instance, can browse the web through a dedicated browser, and can use more than 4,000 apps via existing ChatGPT plugins; the report says Dots are powered by GPT-6 Astra. A first Dot is included with the subscription, creation requires the desktop app or a PC browser (afterwards you can chat with it in the mobile app), and work a Dot performs counts against monthly usage limits. At launch, Pro subscribers in the EU, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Switzerland and the UK cannot use Dots, and OpenAI has not detailed pricing for extra Dots or for increasing a Dot's speed or monthly workload.
Always-on cloud agents push subscription AI from question-and-answer toward long-running automation, making usage-based billing the key variable.
