Google turns on Gmail Live voice search by default for Workspace
Google said it is rolling out Gmail Live to paid Google Workspace users, a low-latency conversational email search feature built on Gemini models that began a staged release on October 15 across Android and iOS and is expected to take up to two weeks. Users can ask spoken questions such as where an order is, when the next mandatory training is due, or which gate tomorrow's flight departs from, and the system answers by voice using email content and context while showing linked email cards as sources. Gmail Live will be enabled by default for eligible Workspace organizations, spanning Business Starter through Enterprise Plus, Frontline Plus and Nonprofits, plus add-ons such as Gemini Business and Gemini Enterprise and the Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra consumer plans; it is currently limited to users in the US with accounts set to English (US) and follows existing smart-feature and personalization policies.
Conversational voice retrieval pushes Gmail further from keyword search toward a Gemini-centered information hub.
