Google is reportedly building a 'Hey Gemini' hotword for Android XR glasses
AI summary
Google is reportedly working on a "Hey Gemini" hotword for Android XR glasses, which would let wearers summon Gemini by voice. The feature could also let Gemini automatically turn on the camera to answer questions about what the wearer is looking at, and Google will likely let users disable that automatic camera activation. The report frames this as part of Google's shift away from Google Assistant toward Gemini, though the features have not been officially confirmed.
In-depth insight
A wake word plus automatic camera use could make Gemini on XR glasses feel more natural, while raising fresh questions about camera permissions and privacy.
