Gemini Personal Intelligence Adds Google Maps Context
Google is expanding Personal Intelligence in the Gemini app to use Google Maps searches and saved places alongside Google Calendar, according to Google Gemini and 9to5Google. With user permission, the feature can combine a user’s schedule with saved locations to recommend nearby restaurants or other options. Separately, Google is notifying AI Ultra subscribers that Gemini 4 Argon will replace Deep Think soon, but the notice does not clarify whether Gemini 3.1 Pro is being retired or only the reasoning mode is being phased out.
The Maps and Calendar integration expands Gemini’s ability to personalize recommendations using a user’s own context, while the unclear status of Deep Think leaves questions about the transition to Gemini 4 Argon.

Besides coming to Android Auto this week, Personal Intelligence in the Gemini app is also expanding its Google Maps integration.
Personal Intelligence uses your emails, docs, photos, videos, and more to customize Gemini responses without you having to be specific. Since launch, the “Search services” Connected App has allowed Gemini to access Search, Maps, Shopping, News, and Google Flights and Hotels.
The Google Maps integration is now expanding to your searches and saved places. The specific example Google touts is combining it with Calendar access to “give you tailored recommendations for your day.” “I have a list of restaurants I’ve been meaning to try. What’s the best spot for after my meetings today?” checks where your last meeting is and finds saved locations near it.
Personal Intelligence can be enabled from gemini.google.com/personalization-settings.
