DARPA ASEMA: Theori's Xint uses AI to map encrypted messaging app attack surfaces

AI summary

In 2025 DARPA announced the Assessing Security of Encrypted Messaging Applications (ASEMA) program, which seeks new technical methods to analyze the attack surface of secure messaging apps and strengthen their defenses. According to iThome, Theori's Xint will use AI to comprehensively analyze the attack surface of communications applications.

In-depth insight

If AI can systematically map the attack surface of encrypted messaging apps, it could become a standard way for governments and vendors to assess messaging security.
