OpenAI's ChatGPT Intelligent UI hands-on: GPT-6 builds clickable answers
OpenAI said on October 7 that it is bringing GPT-6 to all ChatGPT users and rolling out a new Intelligent UI feature to paying users first. Under it, GPT-6 decides when to render images, cards, tables, charts or clickable controls, using a native component library that a compiler progressively renders as the model generates its answer. In a hands-on test, ChatGPT taught Cantonese mahjong with a playable hand area and discard buttons, and broke down Microsoft's Surface Laptop Ultra into product images, spec cards and architecture diagrams — which the reviewer argues is more practical for everyday chat than freely generated web pages.
If a common component set plus model-chosen interaction holds up, assistants could move past plain-text answers and become the main surface where users confirm and understand what agents are doing.
