Doubao Phone Assistant opens screen automation; 155 apps opt out
Doubao Phone Assistant said the 30-day public notice period for its Screen Automation Execution Protocol (SAEP) has ended, so it will gradually open screen-automation access to third-party apps: those that pass risk assessment and have not explicitly objected can be controlled via simulated GUI taps and screen recognition. The refusal list published the same day grew from an initial 151 to 155 apps, including 66 from Tencent (WeChat, QQ, Honor of Kings, Tencent Yuanbao), 23 from Alibaba (Taobao, Alipay, Amap, DingTalk, Qwen), plus 14 from Kuaishou, 11 from Meituan, and AI peers DeepSeek and Kimi. Doubao said the refusals cover only agent-driven operations, not manual use of those apps on devices such as the Nubia M153 and NaviX Ultra, and that developers can opt out at any time, with support shut off within three working days.
It is an early public test of whether AI agents or incumbent super-apps control the mobile entry point, and the mass refusals show that gatekeeping and risk-control concerns currently outweigh openness.
