NYC comptroller urges Anthropic to pause its IPO over AI safety
New York City Comptroller Mark Levine said in a CNBC interview that he has written to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei urging the company to pause its planned initial public offering, according to a 36Kr newsflash citing Sina Finance. The letter asks Anthropic to fully and transparently address its own stated concerns about AI safety, governance and development, and to focus on those risks rather than proceed with the listing. Bloomberg Television also reported on the letter to Amodei, saying the comptroller wants the risks of the technology addressed first.
A public official challenging a leading AI lab's listing plans on safety and governance grounds shows those questions are now part of capital-markets scrutiny.
